The Canadian Power and Sail Squadron is the only
organization appointed by Industry Canada to issue the Restricted Operators Certificate (Maritime).
Overview of the Seminar
This program is completed in three evenings.
The first evening covers the basics of Maritime Radio Operations
The second evening we introduce the new Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, including Digital Selective Calling.
On evening three, students take the examination for the Restricted Operators Certificate (Maritime). This permits the holder to operate any maritime radio on a non-commercial vessel. The certificate is valid for life.
Seminar Materials:
Upon registration, the student receives a printed manual, a bookmark listing the words used in the phonetic alphabet, and a CD. The CD contains homework questions, sample exams and a DSC radio simulator to help the student understand this new technology.
Registration and Fees:
The cost of the seminar is $75 for CPS members and $80 for non-members. The cost of the Certificate is included in the fee. The seminar is normally provided twice each year by the squadron. Seminars for groups may be arranged. Please contact our training officer for further information.
