Seamanship Sail

Overview of the course
This introductory course will teach some of the basic sailing techniques for safe operation under various conditions, and will encourage the participant to become a more competent sailor.
 
What will I learn?
The course covers subjects such as spars and rigging, sails and theory of sail action, sailboat handling, and piloting and cruising under sail for day sailors and keelboats.  Fire safety and sailboat racing are included as in addition to the basic seamanship information.
 
Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
 
Study requirements
Study requirements will depend upon each student's level of knowledge but should average no more than one hour per week outside of class time.  There is an exam upon completion of the course work.
 
Registration
Fees for this course are $85 for members and $100 for non-members, including materials. It is run on demand so please let our training officer know if you are interested.
