Piloting

Overview of the course
A graduate of the Piloting Course will have the knowledge to be able to handle a boat in rough weather and to deal with emergency situations.
 
What will I learn?

This course expands and deepens the knowledge gained in the Boating Course. Topics covered include relative bearings, the running fix, and the effects of current and leeway.  Participants also learn new skills such as marlinspike and coastal navigation.
 

Prerequisite
Open to CPS members only.
 
Study Requirements

The is a moderately intense 12 week course.  Study requirements will vary according to each students' prior knowledge but will likely average two hours per week.  There may be some field trips.

Students will be expected to plan and chart a trip as part of the final exam.
 

Registration
The fee for the course is $100. It is run on demand so please let our advanced courses officer know if you are interested.
