Course information

News

Please contact our training officer for information about courses. You'll find contact information on the contact us page.

Which courses are offered this year?

The Boating course runs twice each year, beginning in September and January. This is the course that includes the required Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) certification. By 2009 every boater will be required to carry this card.

The rest of our courses are run on demand so please be sure to let our training officer know which ones interest you. We'll contact you when the next course is offered.

Pleasure Craft Operator Card-it's the law

The federal government is phasing in a requirement for all boaters to hold a PCOC. You also need a Maritime Restricted Radio Operator’s License to use your VHF radio.

You can get your PCOC and Maritime Restricted Radio Operator’s Licence in a variety of ways. However, the Canadian Coast Guard and the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron strongly recommend you have more comprehensive training such as our Boating course.  It's popular, so register early.
