Boat Pro Course

Overview of the course

The ten-hour Boat Pro course will give you enough information to write the Canadian Coast Guard's Power Craft Operator Card (PCOC) exam. By 2009, every boat operator will be required to have a PCOC.

The text for this course has been applauded by the Canadian Coast Guard as the best of the study guides available.

What you will learn

You will learn how to equip and trailer/transport boats as well as.safety awareness, the “rules of the road,” the Canadian Aids to Navigation system, and basic on-the-water maneuvers such as anchoring, docking, and getting underway.

We also cover preventive maintenance, how to be “weather wise” and why you should file a trip plan.

Study Requirements

Little outside of class. However, both the Canadian Coast Guard and the Canadian Power Squadron strongly recommend that boaters take a more comprehensive course such as the CPS Boating Course to be safe on the water.
